The camu camu plant belongs to the genus Myrtaceae and is native to the regions of the western Amazon. It grows mainly in Peru, but also in Venezuela, Colombia and northern Brazil. The camu camu shrub grows up to six metres high and bears small orange-red fruits from early December to April. Camu camu fruits are berries about 3 centimetres in size and are also known as bayberry fruit or rumberry. Camu camus weigh only between 6 and 14 grams and usually have two seeds. The cherry-sized camu camu berries are harvested and then dried before being gently processed into powder. In this country, the fruits are relatively unknown. But the fruit, which is rightly described as a superfood and rich in vitamins, is on the rise because word of its benefits has long since spread through the trade press, radio and television! Because of its high content of natural vitamin C, camu camu is considered a high-quality antioxidant. Natural antioxidants have a great physiological importance as scavengers of free radicals. The Camu Camu fruits have a refreshingly sour taste.

Stir 1-2 tsp organic Camu Camu fruit powder into water, juice or tea and drink.
The fruit powder can also be used in smoothies, salads or mueslis and to refine all dishes and drinks.
