The name Golden Peanut has its roots in the breeding of American Quarter Horses. The now 31 year old brood mare Peanuts and Snaps gave birth to a stallion in 2006 on a small farm on the edge of the Lüneburger Heide. Dun It Golden Ray was born in the presence of the family in the paddock in the golden morning light.

This unforgettable experience was also the birth of our idea: a product line based on natural ingredients that promotes the healthy development of horses from the very beginning, in addition to keeping them in a species-appropriate environment.

The recipes for the product specialities, which are available in powder or pellet form, are still developed today on the basis of our own experience with the needs of sport and leisure horses. The result is a small, honest product line that focuses on essential ingredients.

Akticolon® pellets for horses

Psyllium Husks are the seed shells of Plantago ovata, a plant native to India. The seeds are harvested by hand, sieved and gently dried. Indian Psylliumcontains valuable slime-forming dietary fibres which swell on contact with liquid. Since these swelling substances are found in the epidermis of the shell, it is separated from the seed by a special process and only the shells are offered as an independent product Psyllium Huskswith a swelling volume up to 5 times as high. Psyllium Husksare available in various degrees of purity. Psylliumproducts for horses are often manufactured with Psyllium Husks85% degree of purity For the production of Golden Peanut Akticolon® pellets only Psyllium Husks95% food grade purity is used. This quality has a source number of at least 40 mg/litre and is comparable to products otherwise available in pharmacies and health food shops. Why Psyllium Husksfeed? The mucilages of the Psyllium Husksare released in conjunction with liquid. They bind sand and dirt deposits in the horse's intestinal tract and transport them to the outside. Sand is taken up by horses when meadows are eroded in autumn and winter, when paddocks are kept or when there are nutrient deficiencies. The absorbed sand is stored in the gastrointestinal tract of the horse and can cause colic. Interval feeding of more Psyllium Husksthan 30 days, several times a year, is therefore also recommended by veterinarians for the prevention of colic.

MSM Methylsulfonylmethane Powder

MSM is the abbreviation for Methylsulfonylmethane. The substance belongs to the group of organic sulfur compounds (sulfones). Methylsulfonylmethane can be found in both vegetable and animal products. It is contained in relatively large quantities in milk, onions, sauerkraut and coffee, for example. Enzymes and amino acids are formed by the absorption of organic sulphur. We ingest MSM with our daily food, but it is often destroyed by cooking, so that only minute amounts arrive in the body and can be processed there. The degree of purity of MSM is important. Many products are offered which are enriched with fillers or trickle aids. Golden Peanut MSM has a very high degree of purity of at least 99.92%. It is a high purity product without additives. New Zealand Greenlipped Mussel Powder

The New Zealand green-lipped mussel Perna canaliculus is extracted in the almost untouched fjords of New Zealand. It is cultivated on ropes hanging vertically in the water. For the production of dietary supplements and supplementary feed, only mussel meat is used for high quality products in order to obtain a yellowish powder. There are very large price differences in the powders available on the market due to quality differences and different production processes. The highest quality is achieved by directly processing the whole mussel meat with all valuable ingredients including oils (Omega fatty acids) into powder. This method is particularly elaborate and is generally very expensive. The end product is referred to as "full-fat quality". Green lipped mussel extracts are cheaper. Here the freeze-dried mussel meat is ground to powder by means of Co2 extraction. During this process, the product loses valuable fats, which are not the only quality feature of the green-lipped mussel. This is due more to the GAGs that remain in the powder in both production methods It is of inferior quality when the entire shell is ground or the extraction is carried out with solvents, because then the valuable fats are completely removed. This is referred to as "degreased quality". You can recognize bad qualities by the light grey colour. On the other hand, high-quality qualities are intensely yellowish and smell strongly of "sea". We are currently offering green-lipped mussel extract (Co2 extraction) in feed quality due to the strongly fluctuating prices on the raw material market. Of course only the mussel meat is used in our quality and many fats remain in the product due to a particularly gentle Co2 extraction process.
