Golden Peanut® – it all started with horses

When we founded Golden Peanut® in 2009, we already had many years of experience with raw materials and their different qualities. Through our contacts with manufacturers around the world, we knew specialty ingredients, their origins and properties – and wanted to put that experience to work for consumers too.

It all started with products for horses and their owners. Our idea was to offer carefully selected raw materials in practical quantities while sharing our knowledge of what really matters when it comes to quality and application.

Raw material expertise meets hands-on experience

A lot has happened since then. What started with just a few products has grown into a diverse range, and we have built our own production operation along the way. We select raw materials, explore their properties in depth, develop our own formulations and continuously learn more about how our products are actually used.

At the same time, we keep looking beyond the familiar: Which raw materials are being discovered around the world? Which new nutrition trends are emerging? And which of them are interesting enough to inspire a new product?

One idea became an entire world of brands

Today, Golden Peanut® includes foods and specialty ingredients for people as well as selected products for horses, dogs and cats. Our original brand has also grown to include additional brands and product worlds, each with its own focus.

What began in 2009 with horses and their owners has continued to grow ever since. One thing has never changed: our enthusiasm for exceptional raw materials, great product ideas and the curiosity to discover what we can bring to you next.

Why Golden Peanut?

Despite the name, it actually has nothing to do with peanuts. There’s a very personal story behind it.

My first horse was an American Quarter Horse mare named Peanuts and Snaps. She was part of my life for many years and reached the remarkable age of 34. When I started a new chapter with Golden Peanut® in 2009, she became the inspiration behind the name.

And “Golden” has a story of its own. One March morning, Peanuts and Snaps gave birth to a colt out in the pasture while we were there with her, just as the first rays of sunshine appeared. His sire was Vivs Dun It, and we named the little colt Dun It Golden Ray.

Peanuts and Golden Ray eventually became Golden Peanut®.

So our name still reminds us today of where it all began, of one very special horse – and of the fact that the Golden Peanut® story really did start with horses.
