The world is full of exciting products and maltitol is one of them! Why? Because it is a modern sugar substitute and has a full 40% fewer calories than sugar. Yet its sweetening power compared to sugar is around 90%! Therefore, it is a popular sugar substitute in calorie-reduced foods and in the production of diabetic and low carb products.

Maltitol is a sugar substitute that is produced by adding hydrogen to maltose. Maltose, also known as malt sugar, is a breakdown product of starch, mostly corn starch, but also wheat starch. Unlike maltitol syrup, maltitol contains no glucose and has no effect on blood sugar levels and is therefore suitable for diabetics!

Maltitol is a very popular preservative and thickener, which is why maltitol (E 965) is used in brown bread, packet soups, mustard or sauces. But it is also used as a sugar substitute in calorie-reduced foods, in the manufacture of products for diabetics and low carb products.

Consumption recommendation

Maltitol has only 10% less sweetening power than sugar and can therefore be used almost 1:1 instead of sugar in all recipes. It is an excellent sugar substitute for low-calorie cooking, baking and refining.

Excessive consumption can have a laxative effect.

Shelf life and storage

When stored under dry, cool conditions, the product can be kept for at least 2 years after the production date.

Our products are always packaged in pre-packaged containers that are marked with a batch number and a best-before date (imprint or additional label). Until the best-before date, the manufacturer guarantees the unchanged properties of the product in terms of appearance, taste and behaviour during processing. This is not an expiry date, as is the case with fresh produce, for example.

When selecting suppliers in Germany and the countries of origin, we ensure that all European standards are met, that the products are tested in the laboratory and that the analytical data comply with the strict product specifications.
